Merton and Lambeth Citizens Advice Bureau seeks new volunteers to pass on money skills
Merton and Lambeth Citizens Advice Bureau is calling for volunteers to take part in a new service, offering training on financial education matters in and around the Merton and Lambeth area.
The bureau is taking part in MoneyActive, a national project funded by Nationwide Building Society, which will see volunteers delivering financial education sessions. There are over 20,000 volunteers in the CAB service, but up until now only 100 have been involved in any kind of financial education work. Nationwide’s £3 million investment in Citizens Advice will increase this figure by 1,300. Merton and Lambeth CABx is part of the first wave of bureaux to offer this new and valuable service and is seeking volunteers to sign up for the challenge.
Full training and support will be offered to new recruits, who will eventually run sessions for local people to increase their money know-how, and for front line workers who deal with the public in local organisations such as schools, housing association and faith organisations.
People who think they have what it takes and are interested in finding out more information are encouraged to call Citizens Advice volunteer hotline on: 08451 264264 (local rate) or email cheryl.stevenson@mertoncab.org.uk.
