Strengthening Families workshops from AECHO

AECHO is looking for families in east Merton to take part in their Strengthening Families for Stronger Communities programme.

Funded by Merton Borough Council and Thames Community Foundation, the project uses cross-cultural empowerment methods to help families from different ethnic groups improve their family life as well as their relationships with each other and their communities.

The project which will run for one year, will begin with twelve weekly, three-hour workshops for parents with children aged three to eighteen.

Held on Saturdays, the workshops will explore various areas of parenting as well as looking at other areas of mutual interest.

Those taking part will be encouraged to identify a common focus for their communities as well as looking for solutions to them. Educational, employment, volunteering and enterprise opportunities will be made available to those parents who wish to acquire additional skills. On-going support will be given throughout the year to help them achieve their goals.
