POLLARDS HILL EVENT

North& East Merton Community Cohesion Project
08/09/2007 - 06/10/2007

The project's aim was to look at possible ways in which a group of young people from different ethnic backgrounds could work together for the benefit of their respective communities and the wider community.

The workshops were interactive and covered issues around concepts of identity, equality of opportunities, diversity, cross cultural realtionships, educational and career opportunities, inter-cultural communications and community cohesion.

The final session to this project was an event held at Pollards Hill Library at which the young people showcased their various talents. Guest speakers, cultural dancers, ethnic food and an open floor discussion were among the other activities. Special guest was Milktray from Bounce FM, a community radio station based in South London. The event gave the different ethnic residents of Pollards Hill  an opportunity to have their voices and opinons heard. One of the councillors for the area, Councillor Martin Whelton joined in the activities.
