How to avoid consumer scams: educational talks from Merton Trading Standards

Merton Trading Standards is offering educational talks to local groups on issues including consumer scams, which would be ideal for groups taking part in this year's Celebrating Age Festival. Last year consumers lost £3.5b to scams. These scams happened at the door, by phone, email, telephone. These talks can prevent that happening to you.

The talks last for about 90 minutes including a Q&A session.

The talks can be tailored to your needs and can cover consumer rights, doorstep crime, scams and counterfeit goods. There are quizzes with prizes, useful leaflets and a session where participants get to guess whether a product is real or fake. These talks are fun to the point yet interesting.

They can also offer talks with the Police and Neighbourhood Wardens. These cover how to avoid distraction burglary and doorstep crime and explain what the Neighbourhood Wardens can do for you. This is offered with a power point presentation.

If you would like to book a talk for the Celebrating Age Festival or find out more, call Jan Davey at Merton Trading Standards on 0208 545 4020.
