Happy Soul Festival
EMC organised Happy Soul Festival on Monday 26th April 2010 at Vestry Hall in partnership with South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS.
Event was very enjoyable and successful.
The mul-ticultural programms were:
Belly dancing, Bamboo dance.
mindfullness intro(40mins), Shikainah Champion-Samuel.
Kick boxing display(10mins).
Film
Mindfullness Workshop.
3 short films.
Guest speakers
Question and answer session with Famous film star Gordon Warnecke.

Buliding Resilience to Violent Extremism
The Ethnic Minorty Center is running the above seminar for 2010/2011. This seminar is sponsored by London Borough of Merton. So far we have organised two seminars, one took place 19th May at Vestry Hall and 2nd one was on 9th June at Taylor Road Day Centre. Both the seminars were well attended and successful. Next event will take place in schools in July/August 2010. Monday 13th of September 2010 from 14:00pm until 18:00pm.
Topics were:
- Is Islam hostile or friendly to other Religions?
-What does Jihad Mean?
-Can Jihid also mean an armed struggle?
-What does Islam say about Terrorism?
Next Preventing Violent Extremism Seminar will take place on 13th September 2010 at Merton Council Chamber.
