The Home Safety Network

The Home Safety Network is a partnership of statutory and voluntary organisations whose aim is to keep older and disabled people safe, well and living independently in their own home within Merton.

The Home Safety Check will help to identify hazards and give you access to help and advice about your home. Useful contact numbers for emergencies and information about free services are included. The service was set up by experts within The Fire Service, Police Crime Prevention, the PCT, Hanover atHome (formerly Care and Repair), Community and Housing and Environmental Health together with voluntary organisations within Merton.

Free smoke alarms and crime prevention equipment are available and carbon monoxide detectors at a reduced rate.

Hanover at Home

If you are over 60 or disabled and resident in Merton we provide help, support and advice with home improvements, maintenance, disabled adaptations, grant applications and form filling.

For larger jobs we can simply provide you with contact details for contractors and gardeners from our Approved Contractors List or our caseworker will visit you in your home and help to guide you through the process.

For small jobs of up to 3 hours duration our Handyperson Service charges £10 per hour, but does not provide decorating or gardening services.
