Merton Youth Partnership

MISSION STATEMENT

Through effective collaboration Merton Youth Partnership provides a range of effective and high quality services to young people; that is informed by and responsive to their needs, accessible to them by right and engages them in decision making in the Borough.

VALUES

We value young people’s rights as enshrined in Article 12 of the UN Charter.  We subscribe to the ‘Hear by Right’ standards for young people’s involvement in decision-making as endorsed by the Local Government Association and the National Youth Agency

We value first and foremost the contribution that young people make to society and specifically to local life in Merton

We value equality of opportunity and access and will challenge all forms of discrimination and oppression

We value work with young people that is exciting, inclusive, challenging, informative and enjoyable

We value young people through:

  • consulting, negotiating and involving them in decisions that effect their lives in the borough

  • celebrating and publicising their successes

  • lobbying for resources to support their needs

We value each other and work together as partners to offer both mutual support and to ensure regular review and critical scrutiny of the impact of our work
