Merton Civic Awards 2009

Merton Council will be rewarding the outstanding achievements of individuals and groups in the borough through a new Civic Award.

The award, which will be handed out by the Mayor at a special ceremony in May, will have four categories, including the Young Person’s Award, the Community Contribution Award, the London Borough of Merton Award for Outstanding Achievement and the Community Group Award. Each category will have a winner and a commended class.

The LB Merton Award for Outstanding Achievement will be given to an individual who has brought credit to the borough or enhanced the well-being of a group of people or an individual living in the borough. Those who have overcome terrible adversity could also be considered for this award.

Merton residents can nominate those people or organisations that they think have made a difference to the borough - whether it is a young person under 25 who has attained a great sporting achievement or a group of volunteers who have improved the lives of disabled children or the elderly for example.
