A New National Safeguarding Unit for the Third Sector
The Government has awarded £2.2m to the NSPCC for the delivery of a new Safeguarding Unit for the Third Sector.
Following the Staying Safe Consultation with charitable and voluntary organisations, the Department for Children, Schools and Families recognised a need for tailored safeguarding support for the Third Sector.
Working with Children England, the NSPCC will use existing Government safeguarding guidelines to establish a framework of child protection standards specifically for charitable and voluntary organisations. The NSPCC will then support and challenge the third sector to meet these standards to ensure that organisations appropriately and effectively safeguard children and young people in all their activities.
