The Celebrating Age Festival offers all Merton residents over the age of 50 the chance to learn something new and meet new people. It is co-ordinated by Age Concern Merton and funded by Merton Council.

Whether you are interested in going on excursions or perfecting your computer skills the festival has something for everyone. This is your chance to find out what's happening for older people in Merton.

Celebrating Age's volunteers, the Festival Friends, have been working with the council's CareConnect service to start up and man a dedicated Festival Line to co-ordinate bookings and enquiries in the run up to the big event. The Festival Line is 020 8545 4712 and opens on Monday 19 July until mid-September, Monday to Friday 9.30am- 3.30pm.

Organisers have laid on 160 different events, ranging from health, gardening and computer workshops through to dancing, dinners and outings. This year's festival promises to be bigger and better than ever.with opportunity for older people to get involved in new activities, visit new places and make new friends.This year sees more activities for men, including trips to Bletchley Park and Portsmouth Dockyard. There are more evening and weekend events – together with the usual vast array of day time events
