Would you like free embroidery lessons?
The River and Cloth arts project is looking for community groups to take part in free textile art workshops.
River and Cloth celebrates the enormous contribution and worldwide influence of the Merton textiles industry based around the river Wandle. They hope to arrange embroidery and applique workshop for community groups in January or early February 2010. Workshop participants will get to learn simple embroidery to create flowers, leaves, birds and insects to form part of a three dimensional trellis based on the famous design of William Morris. The resulting work will form part of an exhibition to take place later in the year.
