New proposal to transform voluntary sector infrastructure services in Merton
The Trustees of Merton Unity Network (MUN), Merton Voluntary Service Council (MVSC) and Volunteer Centre Merton (VCM) have worked together to submit a funding bid to the Office for Civil Society (OCS) Transforming Local Infrastructure fund.
This £30 million fund (which is being administered by the Big Lottery on behalf of the OCS) is aimed at helping local infrastructure organisations come together to avoid overlap and duplication of services, achieve savings and efficiencies, and work more collaboratively with the private sector.
We will know by the end of January if the bid (being led by MVSC) is successful. If it is successful, the funding will support the merger of the three existing agencies into one new charitable organisation to:
- reduce duplication;
- provide a single entry point for individuals and groups to access high quality services;
- be the focal point for the public sector and others wishing to engage groups and communities;
- and further strengthen links with the private sector through collaboration with Merton Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise.
It is also hoped to identify new sources of funding for the voluntary sector through the development of a local Community Fund.
This exciting and forward-looking proposal has the full backing of the Merton Partnership. If you would like any further information at this stage please contact:
