The UN Global Compact Business with a Human Face

The UN is intended to be a centre for harmonising the actions of nations for the attainment of common aims including decent living standards for all.  The UN Global Compact has grown from a proposal by then Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 1999, to unite companies with UN Agencies, Labour Organisations and NGOs/ civil society to meet the challenges of globalisation in ways that protect vulnerable people and the planet.

The presentations at these workshops will cover the structures and commitments of the Global Compact, with some examples of positive outcomes.  Participants are invited to bring their own stories of the impact of Business on People, positive or negative, as contributions to discussion on how the UN Global Compact could play a more effective role in reducing inequalities and promoting our common aims.
