Systemic Family Therapy
Systemic psychotherapists think about people in relationship to others. They believe people both influence and are influenced by others within a relationship system. People belong to a number of relationship systems at any given time, family, peer, professional, educational, religious, cultural amongst others.
Systemic Psychotherapists work with all types of people and the systems they are members of, individually, as couples or as families. Issues may include some of the following:
- Family breakdown: separation from loved ones
- Couple relationship difficulties: heterosexual and gay or lesbian partnership issues
- Conflict within the family
- Traumas: bereavement and loss
- Self esteem issues
- Living with pain or illness
- Stress and managing change, including depression which results from circumstances
- Employment issues: harassment, competence and working with others
- Dilemmas in relation to self, others and the culture we live in
- Distress related to past experiences, maybe from childhood

- Sessions will last between 1 – 1½ hours.
- You may have to wait for a vacancy to arise.
- If we feel that another service may be more helpful to you we will discuss that with you and endeavour to give advice about other resources in the community.
Counselling fee structure:
The Wimbledon Guild is a charity and does not make profits. From the beginning, the service was committed to providing quality counselling, even if the client was only able to contribute minimally towards the cost. This has meant that the service has been subsidised from the start by The Wimbledon Guild, and is yet another way in which donations have been used to benefit those in need. Contributions towards the cost of providing the counselling are negotiated with the clients on an individual basis. We will take into account a clients’ income. There is a non refundable booking fee for the first consultation.
