Alexandra Rose Day has been held in the United Kingdom since 1912 and it was first launched on the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Queen Alexandra, the consort of King Edward VII, from her native Denmark to the UK. It celebrates its 100 years birthday this year. To celebrate, the charity is attempting to break a Guinness Book Record for the number of volunteers out in London on one day. The day is June 21st and they are aiming for 1000 volunteers to take to the streets to sell pink, paper roses. Money raised will contribute to the work of the Alexandra Rose Charity which focuses primarily on supporting young people.

Dear friends,

It has been another very positive week overall in Merton. We have had further reductions in robberies this week. Whilst we need to keep a focus on this, there have been none reported to us over the last two days which is superb.
My CID department have also had other successes that have included charging some of our high profile criminals and I can promise you, we will continue working hard on locking up as many more as possible. I am confident that we will have fewer victims of crime in Merton.
